Meet six talented surgeons who are taking the healing arts to another level.

N.E.D., or, No Evidence of Disease, is a rock band comprised of gynecologic oncologists who believe in the harmonic treatment of patients and their families. No Evidence of Disease represents the hope that every gynecologic oncologist has for patients – the end of the patient’s treatment is the end of their cancer.

N.E.D.'s mission is to raise awareness about gynecologic cancers through the power of music. “The whole world knows about breast cancer,” says N.E.D. vocalist and guitarist John Boggess, M.D., “but people don’t have that same awareness about gynecologic cancer.  They have a ribbon, and now we have a rock band.”

N.E.D.'s members believe their debut EP, with original music ranging from hard rock to folk, has greater potential to help patients than their surgical skills. Spreading awareness of the disease can lead to prevention, which is critically important when it comes to gynecologic cancers. Follow these surgeons on their musical medical mission with Spark Media, an award-winning independent production company that creates inspiring, compelling and entertaining work based on a passion to create a better society.

N.E.D.'s doctor-rockers come from different backgrounds, ranging from military stints to singing subpoenas for lawyers. Yet they found one another through a shared love of music, medicine and a desire to make a difference in the lives of women and their families.

The film’s message focusing on outreach and partnering dovetails with Spark Media’s goals to engender change that contributes to a better, healthier and more inclusive society.  

Our editorial choices will be motivated by our desire to craft a documentary that best captures the power of the group’s personal journeys and the integrity of their voices. Telegenic and expressive, N.E.D. will engage, and outrage. Our cameras will capture a vivid and emotional portrayal of the emotional and complex battle against women’s cancers and will offer viewers a deeper understanding of this formidable disease. At the same time, N.E.D. will defy our most basic assumptions about medicine and the healing powers of music. Theirs is an ongoing contest, a test of will and a tribute to the ultimate values that sustain and drive them in the operating room and on stage: courage, tenacity and faith. Theirs will be a tale of enormous power, a deeply moving story of struggle and dignity, courage and healing.

N.E.D. the movie will inspire, entertain and, we sincerely hope, make a difference.
